Question: I fell on a floor in the hospital while taking care of my brother. I hurt my back and knee pretty badly, but I did not go to the ER at that hospital till the following day. Without having an x-ray, how do I know if I've broken my leg?
I was with my brother and a few friends today, barbecuing on the bank of a creek close to my house. We decided we would skip rocks on the water. Somehow, my brother slipped and ended up blasting me with a rock, right on the part of my leg between my knee and calf muscle, on the little part of bone that sticks out. It hurt, but I was ok to walk on it until about an hour later, and since then it's been swollen to twice it's normal size (this all happened about ten hours ago). There's pain when I walk on it, but it's not so bad that I can't walk at all. I've decided to stay home tomorrow, but being the typical male, I don't want to go to the emergency room unless I absolutely have to, or unless I really do think it's broken. Without having an x-ray, how do I know if I've broken my leg? Thanks a lot.
Phenomanon: The femur is the huge bone in the thigh - it is definately a weight bearing bone. Do you mean fibula?
